چکیده
OBJECTIVE Different types of surgical procedures are utilized to treat craniosynostosis. In most procedures, the fused suture is removed. There only a few reports on evolution sutures after correction To date, no published study describes neosuture formation total cranial vault remodeling. The objective this was understand bones in area coronal and lambdoid that were removed for complete remodeling patients with sagittal particular, investigation aimed confirm possibility formation. METHODS CT images skulls children who underwent operations scaphocephaly at Hôpital Femme Mère Enfant, Lyon University Hospital, Lyon, France, from 2004 2014 retrospectively reviewed. Inclusion criteria diagnosis isolated synostosis, age between 4 18 months surgery, availability reliable postoperative obtained minimum 1 year correction. Twenty-six boys 11 girls included, mean surgery 231.6 days (range 126–449 days). interval reconstruction scanning 5.3 years 1.1–12.2 years). RESULTS Despite removal both sutures, neosutures detected 3D reconstructions. All combinations seen: visible (n = 20); frontoparietal bony fusion 12); parietooccipital 3); 2). CONCLUSIONS This first report skull response normal patent following synostosis. reappearance rather common, but its incidence depends type suture. outcome differs these transverse sutures. might imply genetic functional differences among which still have be elucidated.

Does conventional posterior vault remodeling alter endocranial morphology in patients with true lambdoid synostosis?
BACKGROUND True lambdoid synostosis (TLS) produces a consistent morphology that includes occipital flattening, an ipsilateral occipitomastoid prominence, and a mild contralateral hemifacial deficiency that minimally improves with surgery. Prior studies have demonstrated that dysmorphic middle and posterior cranial fossae contribute to the craniofacial scoliosis characteristic of TLS. We hypothe...
متن کاملHuman skull with complete metopic suture and multiple sutural bones at lambdoid suture – a case report
Introduction Frontal bone of the skull develops in two halves during the fetal life separated by the metopic suture. The suture normally disappears soon after the birth [1]. The persistent complete metopic suture extending from the nasion to bregma is called metopism [2]. Lambda represent the meeting point of the sagittal and lambdoid suture. It represents the site of posterior median fontanel ...
متن کاملEvolution of vault RNAs.
Vault RNAs (vtRNAs) are small, about 100 nt long, polymerase III transcripts contained in the vault particles of eukaryotic cells. Presumably due to their enigmatic function, they have received little attention compared with most other noncoding RNA (ncRNA) families. Their poor sequence conservation makes homology search a complex and tedious task even within vertebrates. Here we report on a sy...
متن کاملCASE REPORT Pan-Suture Synostosis After Posterior Vault Distraction
OBJECTIVE Posterior vault remodeling by distraction osteogenesis is a relatively new technique used for initial correction of turribrachycephaly in children with bicoronal craniosynostosis. We present a new potential complication from this procedure; a case of pan-suture synostosis subsequent to posterior vault distraction. METHODS We report an infant girl who presented with bicoronal synosto...
متن کاملNormal sagittal and coronal suture widths by using CT imaging.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Pediatric cranial sutures are often evaluated for abnormal diastasis upon presentation to the emergency department after trauma or during a neurologic consultation; however, few normative data for CT measurements exist. This study establishes normal means for the sagittal and coronal suture widths during the first year of life by using CT. MATERIALS AND METHODS The sagi...
